Let's Talk Turquoise

Jacket - Carven
Ed. Note: Before we have any misunderstandings, what's not to like about this Carven coat? (I might say, it's turquoise . . . you might say, "Oh, it's turquoise!" -- you're with me I assume. . .) My dear friend Janice -- you know, the fabulous creator of The Vivienne Files --  is suggesting this turquoise coat is just what we need to add verve to her classic L.L. Bean basics, and I have no doubt she's right.

I can most definitely imagine it on someone else, in fact I would love to see it on someone, and would even want to snap her picture because I think the coat is terrific and, truth be told would probably add a great deal to my black, black, black, navy, gray wardrobe, but coward that I am I don't think I could pull it off. Turquoise stops in my world in my jewelry box.

Could you? Would you?

Heading out to Paris, today is My-Reason-For-Living-In-France's birthday and we're off to celebrate. Thank you again and again Janice.

I'd happily wear it, but only on days I wanted to be noticed...Parisians stare at me when I wear my lavender trench, like they cannot conceive of a color other than grey or black. ;-)

This color pulls all the neutrals into focus. I love it as an accent. It's a favorite of mine because it does great things to my eyes. Happy Birthday to your RFLIF, Tish. xoxo, C.

I do love the color....would wear a pop of it and think its an uplifting great accent color, like it against both white and black depending on the sesaon.

I do like to wear it occasionally, I have a fun turquoise cardigan I think I will pull out this week. Thanks for the inspiration!

It's beautiful! If only I was bold enough to wear this color.

The thing I love about a vibrant shade like this is that I can wear it all year long. With chocolate brown or navy in the winter, with other brights and citrus shades in the summer. Love turquoise.

I think this is a lovely color, but not so easy to wear. On some people, it looks divine. On others, unless it's the right shade, it seems weak, somehow.

(Then again, I admit to a preference for jewel tones that are a bit darker.)

I will say... those Manolos? I'd pop those babies on my tootsies in a heartbeat!

Happy Birthday to your MRFLIF!

A cheerful shade for sure and wouldn't you love to find the perfect Hermes scarf to go with it?
Who would care if it rained?

I can imagine this color looking good in the tropics, where everything is so colorful.
Great on dark skin tone too: ).

This is the color that is supposed to look good on everyone, but I've always been puzzled by that -- I think it's very difficult to wear (at least it is for me). So no, I wouldn't.

It's so tempting especially when Janice had chosen all the right pieces to go with the coat. Someone else will look so much lovelier in it than I would. I'll pass...:)

I have to say I feel kind of sorry for people who are so afraid to wear a color! How dull it seems (to me) to wear only neutrals. Turquoise (or aqua or seafoam) is probably my favorite color, but I'm happy to wear coral or ice blue or emerald green or purple. Not all at once, of course. But let's lead colorful lives!

I absolutely adore turquoise! Both the blue and the green hued flavors. I think it's one of those colors that brings out the pink in women's cheeks- no matter what your coloring. Love the necklaces you chose. I love big clunky necklaces, but I find them hard to wear when it's still chilly enough for a scarf. Longing for warmer days!

Wonderful colour!

And people, why be afraid of colours? They don't bite. :-)

I get a lot of positive comments for the colours I wear.

It is a very difficult shade, you can wear it well only if your skin is dark or suntanned. It always looks wonderful on models and on the pages of magazines, but for some reason it always looks cheap and unflattering on me and under my sky - I am Italian but living in the UK. Like many pinks and blues, in UK turquoise is a favourite of lovely grannies with white hair, pink cheeks, greige elasticated trousers and sensible shoes.

for bright colours I love to use ballerinas in all colours, vernis, leather, suede, with grosgrain bow etc. Look upo spanish label Valensi in online shoe boutique Sarenza, not expensive either!
